Planning the mood within the lighting

Resultado de imagen para call me by your name color palette
For the film introduction, I've considered important to create a desired environment for the scene since the scene will take place in the 80s in South America, in a party for only teenagers, the colors violet and blue or orange will be the key colors for the lighting of the room. The scene needs to be dark on the first 30 seconds due to the emotional state in which the m,ain character is going through as he feels that he is rejected by his crush. As his friends get him to come out to the party, the room's darkenss will contrast with the light of the hallway making the the shadow from the friend's bodies. This contrast is elemental to the scene  since it will creates the sense of missing out which the protagonist Juan lacks. The living room, where the party will take place, will be a space in which the colors are going to appear; the blue and purple are chosen in order to give the environment of the party since the cold colors are the common used for the lasers and lighting of the parties, that were also part in the 80s parties, as it appears on the scene of Call Me By Your Name, in which there are darker colors and the lights for the party are violet, which shine on the characters who are on the party to contrast with the protagonist's  (Elio) attitude, demonstrated by the dark lighting of the character's placement in the scene.
Resultado de imagen para call me by your name dance sceneOn the other side I have considered to also involve the color orange in order to give the sensation of the film been foreign or hispanic. Stereotypically, for countries as India and Mexico, the scenes possesses yellow lighting or lenses in order to simulate how hot the enviroment is or how foreign it is; this technique is used on the film Slumdog Millionaire in order to give an specific look to the film or to certain scenes as it is needed since it also symbolizes insecurity as it is used on the film of
Slumdog Millionaire in which he is been questioned by the corruptive manager of the show in which Jamal is participating. Therefore, I will consider to use the orange yellow lighting as the intitial color for the living room, and as the crush of the main character appears, the scene would include blue lighting to simulate relevance onn the new character's presence, showing relevance or contrast on what they have seen in the introduction.                     (Slumdog Millionaire 2008)
Slumdog-Millionaire-0012

As a result, my film introduction is going to have for the first 30 seconds, only dark and little l;ight just showing the main character's silluette; all witht he purpose to show the emotional state with the character. Outside of Juan's room, the light will be orange yellow to demonstarte the presence of the other people in his house which possess a different attitude, and to follow the aesthetic for foreign films with tropical or hot environments. And lastly, as the protagonist approaches the peoploe who is dancing and views his crush, the lighting will involve or switch to violet lighting in order to indicate the presence of the party environment of the 80s and to demonstrate the presence of a different character, elemental to the development of the story since the crush will appear,a nd the film is mainly about jaun's love interest.

Also the color Blue, Violet and Oranghe Yellow are chosen inspired by the YouTube video which demonstrates the psychology of color in film:

  •  To demonstrate the hispanic culture, and presence of party in nthe living room.

  •  REMOTENESS: to demonstarte the isolation of the character from the party due to his emotional state of been rejected by his love interest.

  • For the dance scenes and to show the presence of the love interest in the party, all with the purpose to show the lust purpose of some of the dancers, and the superficial love jaun has for Ana Sofia (Juan's crush).

Juan's Character Development/ Motive

As I came after school, I started to see my YouTube feed to see what caught my attention to watch during my spare time, and i saw this video of "The Nice Guy Trope, Explained"; from the same YouTuber I had already seen explanations of representations such as blonde women in film, and honestly this one of the Nice Guy did not really caught my attention but still considered interesting to watch, i mean why not! And as I was watching the video I have come to the realization of WHAT IS THE MOTIVE OF MY FILM. Since the beginning I knew what kind of film I wanted to create, romantic, funny, foreign, etc...but still did not know how to start the story. I considered creating a love story of the musical genre, about how a boy of twelve-ish years old, was in love with this girl who was out of his league, but my ideas completely changed after I saw that Netflix had just put out a foreign film named "All the freckles in the world" which basically had the same story; therefore, I changed my plans and decided to create a film that was more personal, something I could truly speak about. And I am going to be honest, not so long ago i broke up with my boyfriend, and through reflection I have asked myself what are things that should not be done in or before relationships, and in my conclusion the idealization of a person is one of the most dangerous.
Reseña: Todas Las Pecas Del Mundo – PlayCam
This usually occurs when we have a crush on someone and we do not know them pretty well, so we end up having ideas of how they are like, and fantasies of how they would be if we were a couple, and this is a dangerous activity or habit to do when liking a person since it could waste you a LOT of time and emotions, and IF you even get the opportunity to be become a couple, this could be misunderstand who you are dating, and end up breaking up since the person turns out completely different from your expectations and you end up disappointed of the other when it was truly your fault. I DO NOT KNOW if I am the only one who has gone through this but I consider that it is important to make a film that demonstrates clearly how toxic this could be.
I spoke to my mom about my idea but she told me that I had to look for deeper motives for the film or how is the character of the protagonist  Juan so this is where the video of the Nice Guy Tropes takes place. Who is the nice guy? The nice guy is the guys who pretends to be the best option for a girl's life, since he considers himself to be the nicest to the girl and the most honest possibility for the girl to have as a boyfriend, but as the actions of the character are shown, the "nice guy" is not truly nice, he just is getting his way to obtain what he wants, which is more dangerous but since this is  not an obvious sign of doing harm or been selfish, this is hard to reckon and is often valued by society; a man who works hard to get the girl of his dreams, or how he calls her, "the love of his life" but does the girl feel the same way about the boy? and is love about convincing? or mutual agreement?

There is a YouTube account named WordPorn in which its objective is to post wise thoughts of poets, actors, directors, entrepreneurs, etc...ideas that can change ones thinking and style of living to improve. One of their videos is what is love? a metaphor is done to question whether a fisher truly loves fish or does he/she love oneself since such action of fishing is to satisfy their desire. AND THIS will be the motive of my film, a boy who idealizes his crush and seems as if she had broken his heart since she might confused him or broke up with him, when it turns out such "memories" are truly fantasies that he would have liked to have with his crush, therefore, the raw truth of her rejecting hi seems as if she is a mean girl, when it truly is that she has never been interested in him.
According to the Nice Guy trope, he needs to be insecure, often nerd, and not an expert with girls, and before I forget the major point, he needs to be STUBBORN since he needs to insist to the girl that they are meant to be together, this may seem as cute in films but if we truly analyze this, it is a toxic attitude since it is harassing a person;s individualism and simply a no does not mean later but rather NOT EVER.

As a result who is my main character?
As many film production do, I am going to use the same name of the actor for the character----Juan Diego Martinez (not same last name).
Why him? I was in my math class and he is one of my classmates, and i think he had just cut his hair and he looked different, looked younger with more curls and shorter hair, and for me he was perfect for the role of the protagonist teenager int he 80s.
The actor is from Colombia making him be able to speak Spanish for the film since he also prefers to speak in his native language due to how it makes him feel more confident when speaking. Therefore, he is perfect for the role, also he was willing and excited for my proposal of participating on my project. SOOO he is the chosen one.
Juan Diego Martinez is going to be the typical teenage Hispanic boy, interested in two things soccer and girls. This may seem as stereotypical, but this is an honest stereotype. Oh, sorry almost forgot another aspect of the character that ALSO falls into the stereotype, he likes music, the one which is trending at the time but he truly likes it.

As I have said this before (dozens of times, he has fallen in love for a classmate, Ana Sofia Hernandez. But this is not a crush who comes from falling in love with the girl, or been attracted due to the chemistry between the two but he rather is in love of how she looks and how they both together may seem as the perfect couple since they would look good together, kinda superficial. Giving the major reason WHY Ana Sofia would not be interested in him, since he pretends that looks or attraction from his part would make them a meant couple.
In addition, as the Nice Guy Trope is described, Juan needs to be insecure and selfish causing him not been the nice guy as he seems to be just because he is naive or inexperienced, therefore, the world is not been mean to him, but rather his selfishness is what truly leaving him be all by himself. Consequently, Juan is emotionally unstable since he relies on his convictions in order to relate with others, he has friends Willie and Ivan, but this does not much affect them since they are not related to Juan in such a personal manner in which his vulnerability may be shown since it is also the 80s in South America, and boys don't cry right? but well since in relationships one does need to show ones vulnerability in order to relate or be connected, Juan gets to show how imperfect he may be with his selfishness but this is actually without him and Ana Sofia been in a relationship but rather with him "working hard to get the love of his life" or rather emotionally dependent to his crush. In addition, Juan never makes a move to know the girl, he just believes they are meant and that is enough, making incoherent Juan's actions. If he does not doe anything RIGHT about his crush, then he can not argue about it.
BTWWWWWW, I also already chose who is Ana Sofia, and this came from the same origin as who was casted for Juan, since as I told Juan to participate on my project an old friend of mine was there, and she said she wanted to participate too and she is actually matched PERFECTLY! as if it is meant! truly meant not as Juan's (character's) ideal;s of love...but well this will be furthered explained later, BYE!:)

FINAL STORYBOARD

You guys don't know how much times I have created the storyboard but FINALLY is all finished. In past projects I created storyboards that had well thought shots but for this project I realized that I should plan every shot so they have specific intention, and during the filming, it could be done faster and all planned knowing how to due each shot. Therefore, I have decided to sit down and think about every single shot that  my film introduction is going to possess, and I even created a code in which the YELLOW stands for the intended dialogues of the scene, GREEN signals in which and where certain shows are going to show the titles, and in PINK specific details for production and intentions, techniques for the all the shots.

During the filming of the introduction, I will take all shots according to what was planned within the storyboard, and also for the editing I will follow it too. I KNOW storyboards are with the purpose to be followed as I should have done before BUT this time I have chosen to do so and will follow its purpose, it is never too late to learn. In addition, since the film is going to be sound-driven all sound details are taken into consideration of the song "El Cantante" by Hector Lavoe WHICH I AM WAITING to be granted permission by its records Fania, whom I send all the info but have not responded to my last email, LET"S HOPE FOR THE BEST!

Although I do have a plan B, a song by the band Monsieur Perine, "Tu Ma's Promis"; due to how the song provides a tropical and foreign environment within its rhythms of the saxophones and mix of french and Spanish within the singing. in such case I would have to change the soundtrack of the film to be contemporary but the story based in the 80s as the film of Call Me By Your Name does since the story is based in the 80s but they use original songs from the 80s that simulate such 80s style of music:)
Resultado de imagen para tu m'as promis
(Tu Ma's Promis, Monsieur Perine)

ALSOO! The introduction will be filmed only in one night since the scene only takes place in one place, therefore,  I need to take many shots since the moment cannot be recreated. For the filming I invited to my house a group of friends in which I count on, so they would behave and collaborate during the filming; so the recording could be done on Saturday 14th at 8:00pm. In addition, I am creating the outfits or the style that will be incorporated within the outfits according to the era, and when I have it all set up I will let them know and accommodate it to what they possess or even afford, and before filming all make-up and hair will be done for the boys and girls.

Chemistry within the dance (reasearch)

ALTERNATİF HAYAT: Aralık 2012Since I am eleven years old, Anna Karenina has been one of my favorite romances in film. Even though the Anna Karenina did not have one of the best relationships, the story is unforgettable and incomparable, all due to their chemistry. Vronsky and Anna Karenina first meet in the train station, and since then there was tension between the two, as they go to a party, they get to dance with each other as if no one else is watching, when actually everybody in the party is since Anna was married.
Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s Choreography for ‘Anna Karenina ...
The chemistry between the two characters is interesting due to the appreciation both have for each other; even though they do not know much about each other, they are intensely attracted to one another. This attraction is developed from the point they dance in the party, this scene is pivotal to the story and is one of my favorite scenes in film due to its mise en scene, choreography, camera movement, etc...the reason why this scene is so essential is due to the expressiveness of the dance. No word is spoken nor there are much facial expressions but the fluidity of the hand movements and choreography of how as they start to dance all the couples around them stop dancing until Anna and Vronsky pass through; this technique gives the effect of time stopping as Anna and Vronsky started to dance; and when the dance gets more intimate the scene transitions from Anna been risen to them dancing in the same ballroom but empty under the spotlight, demonstrating how the moment felt for the couple and how they were the center of the attention in the party, since it was a forbidden attraction due to Anna's marriage. Even through the colors, this message of attraction, or as forbidden is transmitted due to how Anna's dress is black and Vronsky's suit is white, showing as if opposites attract. In addition, within the story Vronsky was expected to propose to a younger woman, Ekaterina; whom in the dance scene is anxious by Vronsky connection with Anna; and is demonstrating by how agitated and fast the camera movement becomes as Ekaterina notices the couple's chemistry; and it is also implied as agitated breathing is included within the soundtrack, implying Ekaterina's anxiety and madness against Vronsky and Anna's passion. Consequently, the couple notices their impact at the party, and Anna decides to allow Ekaterina to dance with her possible fiance; as Vrosnky and Ekaterina start to dance, the dance movements are more exaggerated and the color of the dress and suit match as they both are white, and seem to be more "pure", when it actually seems to be more pretended.
All these details and techniques transmit the message of forbidden love, chemistry, sexual appeal, and anxiety; all within the expressiveness of the choreography and its fluidity; as a result, I WANT my film introduction to possess such expressiveness within the music and composition of the choreography.
American Beauty (1999) Dance Scene HD - YouTubeAs I've developed my idea for the film introduction, I have come to the conclusion of creating the story of how a teenage Latin boy idealizes the idea of love as he falls in love with a girl of his school. The film's major element is going to be the music specifically of the salsa genre, in order to express the protagonists's attraction to the girl, and perspective on love and attraction. Consequently, as I said before, the film introduction is going to be a dance scene of how the time stops (as in Anna Karenina) but  expressed in a different manner by the moment becoming only focused on the girl of the protagonist's dreams, when it is actually his day dreaming of him getting to seduce the girl while dancing salsa. The target audience of the film will be Latinos of the ages 40 to 60, and teenagers due to how the era will attract the generation that did experience their adolescence in such era, and the modern audiences are also interested on the vintage film making. This is my target audience for the film since the time era in which the story is going to be developed on is during the 70s to the 80s in South America, where salsa was the music for dirty dancing back then. As a result, for my film intro, the choreography will be focused on demonstrating chemistry within the dance, and also intensity within the attraction, contrasted with the protagonist's perception of the love of his life dance moves as they seem more fantasized, as in American Beauty's scene of Lester Berman looking at Angela dance "for him".

NOW I KNOW

It has been hard to know how I want to make my film intro. Since I am ten years old, I have imagined great intros for films while I listened to music.; therefore, for me MUSIC is an elemental factor for the intro because it sets the tone for the scene, and there are so many beautiful songs that can provide an unexplainable environment for the film. Consequently, this whole week I have been thinking and searching which song I WANT. It seemed to be wayyyyyy easier when I used to do this for fun but now that I have to truly consider what I can do, and when I have to have it ready for; is when the brain turns into a state (as the choreographer of my theatre class said, "my brain is dead"), hours later I got to understand that mental state. Also, now I get to understand why peers of my class where asking if we can post in our blogs, our mental breakdowns due to the project and to be honest NOW I get it; didn't have a mental breakdown but my brain was dead, with all the ideas I wanted, all the stories I wanted to share, all the songs to choose from, etc... BUT NOW I KNOW.

As I was doing a quiz for the class of Chemistry that I am taking online, I was listening to my dad's afternoon ritual, playing his music. My dad is a person who has a story for everything, and my mom is there to point out the truth out of those stories because my dad is great being hyperbolic. As I was saying, my dad has a story for everything, most from his experiences, and he constantly connects those experiences with a sensation, and a song that reminds him of that moment or to a song that was actually at the moment. Therefore, this always inspired me to create a story, as my dad shares them, music riven and nostalgic. On the other side, my dad also help me to get inspired by playing his music on shuffle; and as I was doing my homework, the salsa music I was listening to from the living room, changed the tone completely; to a tone I've never heard before in salsa, so classical and moving emotionally which was a new to me since salsa music makes you want to dance, but rarely makes you want to take a step back and just contemplate your environment or the moment. All this feeling due to a section of the song which mixes an orchestra with the salsa. It may sound random but it is beautiful, and that is when I knew which song I WANT for my intro.

DISCOMPLETAS: HECTOR LAVOEAs an amazing artist I got to know this year (not personally), Stromae, a French artist and composer, he said once in a interview that the reason for him to create his music in french, is because it sticks to his native language allwoing him to express himself accurately. And this stuck to me, therefore my film intro will be using the song "El cantante" (the singer) by Hector Lavoe, the film will be named "La Sabrosa Comedia"(the Delicious Comedy) , alluding to Hector Lavoe's album of "La Comedia", where the song "El Cantante" was in; also I allude to Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy" since even though I know Divine stands for heavenly, in Spanish's colloquial language it is also used as a synonym for delicious, and the word "sabrosa" is the feminine of another synonym for delicious in Spanish. Also, the word "sabroso" suits perfectly to one of the film's elemental factors, salsa music; which in Spanish salsa stands for "sauce"; therefore, the salsa is used for giving more flavor to the food, as the salsa music is considered to give more flavor to life.

DISCOMPLETAS: HECTOR LAVOEI have been thinking for a great song to use for so much time; I went through the decade of the 70s and 80s; because those are my favorite decades, and I didn't know which song to use and which decade the story should be in. Every song that I found gave me the tone and a feeling for a story that I did not want my intro to be based upon, so I had to look a little bit more; something more meaningful, relatable and nostalgic. I have not been in the 70s nor 80s but I would have liked to; also by my grandma and dad sharing their experiences on such eras, makes me want to know how it used to be, and more how my country used to be also. In addition, Hector Lavoe, is a salsa singer who marked the South American and Caribbean culture, a Puerto Rican artist who gave to the Hispanics and Latinos, the american 70s motto of "Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll" but rather "Sex, Drugs, and Salsa"(n.d.). Retrieved from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XhaLIv2uGw&t=1612s.
Therefore, in order to be nostalgic and relatable to me, I have to follow Stromae's technique of sticking to one's native language to express our art.

As a result, my film ideas/goals for my film intro are:
-Foreign film (Hispanic/Caribbean)
-Sound driven/Dance scene (Salsa, Hector Lavoe "El Cantante"
-Nostalgic, 70s/80s South America/ Miami
-Comedic, playful
The film could go two ways, either the protagonist Juan, has emigrated from Puerto Rico, Colombia or Venezuela, to Miami; and is adapting but can't get over the life he is used to have in his coutry. Or the film will take place in Juan's country, and the film would be about the life of a teenager of such era, in which the information could be based upon interviews to people whose adolescence was in South America.
The introduction of the film will be a dance scene were the main protagonist named Juan Garcia (interpreted by a friend of mine, Juan Diego), will be entering to a party along with two friends Willie and Ivan; and as he is getting comfortable to dance salsa since he is learning, the scene starts to change ( it could be from the alcohol or is attracted to a girl who would be interpreted by a friend of mine Sofia Herrera). That still needs to be thought through.

My inspirations for this dance scene come from films such as Dirty Dancing, Slumdog Millionaire, and Call Me By Your Name:
Dirty Dancing is By Far the Greatest Summer Romance Flick
  • Dirty Dancing: the introduction of the film sets the tone of what dirty dancing means by showing close-ups of a slow movement scene, of young people of the 50s dancing in a party. This scene sets the space for the titles, playing the song "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes. Consequently, this introduces the tone, and title of the film before any character is introduced.

Resultado de imagen para slumdog millionaire dance scene
  • Slumdog Millionaire: Even though it portrays a story based in India, it is an English film since it was directed by Danny Boyle; who made the film to be sound driven but lack cellos for the music not making you weep but rather anxious, and mainly the soundtrack possessing the style 70s Indian Disco Music, when the film is based on 2008 but all with the purpose to give the film scenes alluding to Bollywood's techniques such as dance scenes at the end of the film.

Call Me By Your Name | "Dance Party" Official Clip HD ...
  • Call Me By Your Name: American film set in Northern Italy during the 80s. A film that inspires me for my intro by possessing a beautiful scene where the soundtrack, lighting and mise en scene give the perfect space for the character Oliver to jam to the music while been contemplated by the protagonist, Elio; who has a crush on him.

Finally, the "La Sabrosa Comedia" will be a film of drama, romance and comedy based n the year of 1978, demonstrating the life the character Juan Garcia who gets to get over the love of his teenage life, who he either left due to how he emigrated or the girlfriend broke up to him. (that still needs to be decided, and I need approval from Fania Records in order to use Hector Lavoe's song :) no pressure).

Inspiration from the already existing

For the film introduction I needed inspiration, and as I said before from the genres that I chose to focus on, I continued my research and brainstorming through watching all the introductions from the most memorable films I have watched. Including:

  • The Graduate
  • Love Story
  • American Beauty
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
  • Across the Universe
  • Shrek 2
  • Crazy Stupid Love
  • 500 Days of Summer
  • Dirty Dancing
  • Les Miserables
  • The Perks of Being a Wallflower
  • The Godfather
  • Grease
  • Instructions not Included, etc..

Even though I love every single one of these films in order to get inspired on, I got to narrow my favorites into three
methods to make the introduction of a film from my favorite techniques, and my favorite examples.

1)Introduction of a character through the patterns or habits and explanation of their present:
To me an interesting manner of introducing a character is through his/her habits not necessarily through their everyday routines but rather through the demonstration of what they do, that highly demonstrates the person's character and priorities. A great example for this technique is the introduction from the Mexican film: Instructions not Included (2013). This film is definitely one of saddest and funnest films I have ever seen, and it is sad that it does not have much recognition since it is foreign and originally in Spanish. However, the film introduces the main character Valentin by first showing how his father challenged him in his childhood with the purpose to prepare him from the fears of life but it rather traumatized him, and developed his conduct of never been able to commit just to one woman. This story is shown by introducing first Valentin's childhood, and then contrasting it to his current life. In addition the idea of him not been able to commit to one woman, is made through a sequential scene of all the women he has hang out with, and ends with the one night stand that marked his life, introducing the issue of the story.

                                          [Instructions not Included (2013)]

2) Exposing all issues or start of a pivotal moment:

Films that possess many characters in which the story is going to be about, are interesting films to watch since they keep you constantly receiving information from the things they go through and how it all adds up to a main idea, or final result of their stories on how would connect or compare. There are many great examples for this method but for me the intro of Crazy Stupid Love is the most memorable on this; within the introduction, in a comedic manner they introduce the issues of most of the characters but the main reason why this introduction is so memorable is by how the film since the beginning demonstrates the event in which the film will develop on, how Emily (Julianne Moore), asks for a divorce to her husband Cal (Steve Carrel) in an uncomfortable manner, causing the situation to be awkwardly funny. This scene is memorable and sets a whole theme and humor throughout the film; and to complement the scene, the story continues by showing the love issues in which the son of Caleb and Emily has to go through since he is secretly in love with his babysitter and the babysitter is also secretly in love but with the Caleb, who is way older from the babysitter who is a highschooler. As I explain, the main issues of the film, it first seems hard to be understood and also looks as if this was the climax of the story; it is but it is introduced since the beginning; therefore, the controversial stories, events and secrets are exposed since the beginning because these moments are all introductions of the most vulnerable parts of the characters in which the story is going to be about.

[Crazy Stupid Love (2011)]

3) And lastly, the thematic song and the flashback story:

My ast example and method will be from the iconic film of Love Story, this film is mainly recognized by the sad story of how Oliver lost the love of his life, and also by the iconic theme song that is played through the saddest moments of the story. Again, I have not spoiled to you guys, what the film is about since this is the introduction of the story; and it is done by first the theme song introducing the character's situation, and the character's voice over explaining why such grief, and who was the love of his life whom passed away. Afterwards, the story starts on how the met and the story goes on but even though, the introduction said what would happened to Oliver's lover, Jenny; it is still expected for her to survive, and the ending is hurtful due to the story and theme song (that according to my parents it had such an impact in their culture, that every time the song was played in the radio, they were able to cry). As a result, this film introduction sets the tone for the rest of the film, been an interesting choice in order to intrigue the audience by first showing the worst moments of the main character, and then showing what happened, making the audience also be hurt, as they get to know the story.

[Love Story (1970)]

As a result, I want my film intro to possess scenes that explains the conducts of the main character either through flashbacks or through a pivotal moment of their lifes; in addition the film opening could possess the voice over of the main character describing his condition or other's, or this could be even achieved by presenting the scene with a song that speaks for the character from the tone or lyrics; and lastly, an important aspect that I want my intro to possess is to be memorable and relevant for the development of the story because it is this way in which a film could be likable from the beginning to end, in order to be memorable to it's audiences.

The chosen genre

From now on, my blog posts will be towards explaining you guys my process on creating my Portfolio for the Cambridge Test. This posts will happen every week, with the objective of giving you the oportunity to view all my ideas and how do I incorporate them into my "final masterpiece".

So, for today's post I'll talk about the genre I chose for my 2 min intro of a film. When I like a film, I buy the copy on  DVD or Blue Ray, and for today's post I got to search for ideas for the film introduction, through the films I possess. In my collection

I got to see how there was a pattern on my favorite films: they had great aesthetics, there was a constant theme, they possessed romance, had scenes that were either controversial or funny or even mixed; and finally possessed a song that was relevant for the development of the story or are iconic for the film. Afterall, it all went down to four genres or style of themes:

                               Drama, Romance, Comedy & Soundriven

Films such as 500 Days of Summer, Love Story, Dirty Dancing, Crazy Stupid Love, Shrek 2, 50 First Dates, The Graduate, Across the Universe, Slumdog Millionare, and the list goes on; are films that mix these four genres and make it into a wonderful film that provides an interesting story that may involve romantic experiences including their hard moments, and at some situations they would be intended for you tto laugh at them; all according to the lyrics or rythm of the song chosen for each specific scene or even be the theme throughout the whole film.

The reasearch study I did in November was on Musicals due to how I highly appreciate a film with great soundtrack; although, as I have been researching on films, I noticed that for me the most valuable scenes of films, are the ones who possess a song that speak for the character, due to how usually for musicals lots of energy are required in order to transmit the message for the audience but in soundriven films it is implied within the subtext, and who is carefully watching the film, will be who notices :)
