The chosen genre

From now on, my blog posts will be towards explaining you guys my process on creating my Portfolio for the Cambridge Test. This posts will happen every week, with the objective of giving you the oportunity to view all my ideas and how do I incorporate them into my "final masterpiece".

So, for today's post I'll talk about the genre I chose for my 2 min intro of a film. When I like a film, I buy the copy on  DVD or Blue Ray, and for today's post I got to search for ideas for the film introduction, through the films I possess. In my collection

I got to see how there was a pattern on my favorite films: they had great aesthetics, there was a constant theme, they possessed romance, had scenes that were either controversial or funny or even mixed; and finally possessed a song that was relevant for the development of the story or are iconic for the film. Afterall, it all went down to four genres or style of themes:

                               Drama, Romance, Comedy & Soundriven

Films such as 500 Days of Summer, Love Story, Dirty Dancing, Crazy Stupid Love, Shrek 2, 50 First Dates, The Graduate, Across the Universe, Slumdog Millionare, and the list goes on; are films that mix these four genres and make it into a wonderful film that provides an interesting story that may involve romantic experiences including their hard moments, and at some situations they would be intended for you tto laugh at them; all according to the lyrics or rythm of the song chosen for each specific scene or even be the theme throughout the whole film.

The reasearch study I did in November was on Musicals due to how I highly appreciate a film with great soundtrack; although, as I have been researching on films, I noticed that for me the most valuable scenes of films, are the ones who possess a song that speak for the character, due to how usually for musicals lots of energy are required in order to transmit the message for the audience but in soundriven films it is implied within the subtext, and who is carefully watching the film, will be who notices :)
